Welcome to Day 3 of #16DaysOfActivism from across the Parallel Lives Network.

Earlier this week I met online with 2nd Year Journalism student Delta to discuss Trans activism. Ever since Delta joined the Documentary Media Centre’s DocFolio Mentoring Programme they have been busy…..involved in writing for the recent HAZ We Got News For You newspaper covering Leicester’s Heritage Action Zone, interviews for the International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation newsroom hosted at the Zinthiya Trust and maybe, more importantly, helping raise awareness around the many issues affecting the trans community.

One thing that stands out for me over the last 18 months of our friendship is that University has proved to be both a place for educating others as well as themselves.

I hope this short interview helps you understand the trans community a little better, even if that simply means asking them rather than just reading what someone famous has said or thinks!
